REVIEW: Rimmel Apocalips - Stellar!

A product that's been on my wishlist ever since I first saw it! Let's see if the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Stellar lived up to the hype or not!

The packaging is very unique and I love how for the first time Rimmel has come up with a product that is conceptual in it's product design, packaging and labels. You have me impressed right there Rimmel! Sometimes words can make you fall in love more than anything else. Who am I kidding, it works for a woman everytime!

Starting off with the packaging, I do love the assymetric angled top like an uncut stone and it's nice to be able to see the prooduct through the packaging since it's fades to transparency at the bottom. I do wish however, that the shade & number was stuck to the bottom instead on the side of the product also multi-tasking as a seal. I really like that the product stays a good half inch away from the mouth of the tube when you open it. This will prevent making it a liquidy/gooey mess everytime you open and close the product.

The applicator for these is a rather unusual one, atleast to me. It's a regular looking doe foot applicator with a concave middle that cups or hold the product in there. In my opinion that's not the best of its attributes because it does transfer a lot of product onto the lips in one go. For people who like using a thicker layer of this may like it but combined with the formula I don't particularly think applying a thick layer is the best option.

As far as the formula is concerned, it's a lip lacquer for sure. Pigment packed like a lipstick but glossy like a lacquer. I'm super impressed with how pigmented these are! I'm not hating the smell of these either but it may bother some, a very overly sweet scent (smells like apples to me) but it fades away on your lips quicker than you can say APOCALIPS!

As far as longevity is concerned I'm not amazed like reviews all over made me think I'd be. That said it lasts considerably well but not mind blowing as I had expected. With the amount of eating and drinking like I do :P it doesn't survive as well as I thought it would, so I'm not overly impressed since other lip products work just the same for me and some even better (the likes of Wet n Wild and Sleek pout paints) but it depends on every individual I suppose! What's best about it is that the gloss lasts 3-4 hours even with some snacking in between after which it fades a bit before eventually becoming a stain. I find that the best way to make this last longer is to layer it using small amounts for each layer and it's lasts longer on me.

Now isn't that spectacular or what? Once you swatch this there's no going back. Bright lip lovers cannot pass this up even if they own shades similar to this, because this is a gorgeous GORGEOUS bright coral pink gravitating just a littttleee towards red but not quite! There's a lot of debate going on about what color Stellar really is and in my opinion, I'd call this color a bright candy apple red on me. Like the perfect Snow White Red. Rosy, with it's pinky hues peeking through, a touch of coral that adds softness and a little bit of red for those just bitten lips!

I absolutely adore the shade and as much as I've tried NOT using this, I've been reaching for it every single day since I bought it. You'd think, isn't this a bit bold for an everyday look? Surprisingly it's very wearable for me! The trick is to use the tiniest amount of product possible. The spoon shaped doe foot applicator sees to it that you don't but try starting with a light layer, which is also pigmented enough, and then building it up as you like. The more glossy you'd like it to be, the thicker your layer, but this product can get messy even though it's not sticky like a lipgloss, it may transfer to your teeth during application.

Here's how I apply it:
Use a tiny amount all over the lips, blot and then apply a thin layer again and then blot again.

All in all, these are definitely worth a try. If pigmented, glossy lip color is your thing do give these a shot! If you're more into mattes you can still work these by blotting them like I do. With the array of 10 (or more? I've seen a shade called Solstice and Aurora online which I haven't seen elsewhere and also there's a shade Light Year in our local stores which some bloggers from abroad haven't even mentioned as part of the collection) gorgeous shades, there's one for everyone from bolds to nudes and a clear gloss. I swatched 7 of these beauties, minus Big Bang, Nude Eclipse (which wasn't available) and the clear one and I think the only one I didn't like was Luna. I have my eyes on Celestial and possibly Big Bang next!

You can purchase these online from Beauty Arena and Just4girls.pk but they are now also avaliable at local stores. I got mine from Enem store in Lahore for PKR 975. Folks in the UK can find these at local Boots & Superdrug I believe for a price of 5.99 pounds!

LOVES:
-Packaging.
-Color.
-Pigmentation.

DISLIKES:
-Applicator picks up too much product.

-Transfers.

My Rating:

4/5: This one's defintely a keeper!
Not letting go anytime soon!
