REVIEW: MUA Power Pout in Justify!

Hello lovers! The MUA Power Pouts struck the makeup world like fire because all everyone wanted to know was if these were as good or possibly better than their more expensive look alikes? Read on to find out what I think!

Justify seemed like the perfect summer orange and I was super excited when ordering these! Much of my excitement came from my love for the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains. I was secretly hoping that these would turn out to be cheaper dupes.

Let me just say it. These aren't even close. Sure, the resemblance is uncanny, and they have a minty (but not similar) scent to them. The tingling is there too. These feel more like a fusion of a balm and lipgloss. The color isn't as buildable as with the Revlon ones and so these are aren't super pigmented. You could try blotting and  reapplying but it hasn't worked out that way for me. These aren't sticky or anything and don't have any taste to them either and I like it that way.

They last quite nicely and although some reviews state that these don't leave behind a stain, I've found mine to leave a pink stain behind. After the gloss dies down in a few 2-3 hours, the tint left behind lasts for another 3-4 hours on me with eating and drinking. That is perhaps it's only redeeming quality to me.

Also disappointing was the color not being able to translate as on the packaging or in the tube. Swatched on the arm it looks orange, but on my lips it's not the same. Perhaps it will be more orange on some people but on my lips it translates to a pinky coral and the stain it leaves behind it also pink! I would have loved the bright orange it appears to be.

Other than that, one of these arrived broken and Justify was also quite close to melting until it just broke on me while I was swatching it for this very review. The pointy tip came right off like someone fruit ninja-ed it even though I was careful with the pressure I was applying knowing these have a tendency to break off or melt. Sigh. Not the best feature in a product. Also the product stick moves around a lot in the tube so you need to be careful. So much care for a product that should come with the ease of just throwing it on. I don't think so. Unless you're in love with the product I doubt anyone has the patience to deal with messy balm.

Compared to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.
What I do like however, is that unlike the Revlon ones, these don't emphasize imperfections on the lips. So way to go for that MUA!

It's not a bad thing at all that these aren't similar dupes of the Revlon ones. Infact, these might work better for some people. Just not for me. I might repurchase Rendevous because I love the color but Justify just didn't justify the PKR 530 I spent on it. I'm not disappointed because these aren't like the Revlon ones, but more so because MUA has been coming up with amazing products one after the other and I was definitely expecting more than such glitches from a product like this one! I really wanted to love this one but it just didn't happen.

I got mine from Beauty Hub on Facebook. They have a lovely selection of beauty products from the UK, so show them some love and like their Facebook page.

 LOVES:
-Longevity.
-Packaging.
-Doesn't emphasize imperfections like the Revlon JBKBS.

DISLIKES:

-Melts easily.
-Prone to breakage.
-Product moves around in the tube.
-Messy application because of all of the above.
-Not true to color in the tube.

My Rating:
2/5: Not impressed!

Thanks for stopping by! If you've tried or ordered these I hope your experience was better than mine! Have a great day!

    1. I tried refridgerating them too! But I can't possibly do that all the time just because I'm scared they will melt. I thought about usin concealer to kill the color of my lips but that kind of kills the point of summer makeup being light and breathable especially where I live :)

  13. Ah what a bummer! My power pouts are on their way and I'm secretly wishing they don't come broken to me. I had really high hopes with them considering they are from MUA.
