Lets be real. We all know I don't need more lipsticks. But the Nars Digital World Lip Coffret was a treat I just couldn't miss. I am borderline obsessed with their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, which is hands down my top favorite red lip color. Needless to say, the limited edition set made its way into my arms regardless of how ever many lipsticks I have stashed away.
First, let's just revel in the absolute gorgeousness that is the packaging of Digital World. Anyone else feel like magical winter wonderland just happened here? Yasss. The ethereal limited edition outer packaging is just stunning and makes for a great gift. You don't even need wrapping paper! If you're anything like me and choose to present this to yourself from your own self (isn't that genius) this would make for a beautiful vanity topper! I use one half on my dresser for makeup I reach for daily and the other on my bedside as trays for random but necessary inanimate objects. Brilliantness!
Now onto the actual thing itself. Can I just confess my absolute unwavering love for these pretty little, matte chubby sticks! Digital World coffret is a mix of three Satin and two Velvet Matte Lip Pencils from NARS. The formula on the Velvet Mattes is spot on! It is unlike any matte formula I've come across and looks and feels truly like velvet! I was hesitant on how the Satin Lip Pencils would turn out to be since I'm not exactly a satin/creamy lip finish fanatic. Let me just tell you, there is only one word for it. Ahhmazing. Not OTT slick or creamy at all. These have a perfectly adequate amount of slip & shine. Infact, they seem like your regular matte lipstick with a little bit of life! I wouldn't say they don't budge at all but they last pretty long but I find the satin ones to last just that little bit better. The set contains the shades, from lightest to darkest- Torres Del Paine, Descanso, Yu, Iberico and Cruella.
Torres Del Paine is a peachy nude described as a peach coral while Descanso is a tea rose. They seem similar at first glance but believe you me there is a difference. Next is Yu, a bright pink. Absolutely beautiful! It's like Mac Candy Yum Yum and Flat out Fabulous had a baby!! The matte shades include Iberico, an intense coral and Cruella, the cult favorite, scarlet red! The pencils are not fullsize but not tiny by any means. The 1.7g of product will last you a long time. Yu and Cruella are available for purchase on Sephora as full size for $25 a piece. You definitely get your moneys worth and more since this set is valued at $96!
Personally, I'd have preferred if instead of two nudey shades, there was a MLBB or a neutral rose color like DolceVita (see here) to add versatility to the set. Other than that the color selection is nicely done. You have your brights, one for summer and one for cooler months and a deep scarlet for those glam nights and the nudes are great for everyday. I do think there's something for everyone with the variety but people who shy away from nudes or brights, should not invest in this set. I was intimidated by Torres Del Paine at first because peachy nudes tend to wash me out but OH BABY, it was love at first swatch. I don't see any of these being neglected in my stash since I love every color!
The NARS Digital World set is available exclusively at Sephora for $49 (actual value $96)! I ordered mine through Sehrish on Facebook. Such a lovely experience, she doesn't have a page yet, but I highly recommend shopping through her! This set is limited edition, so if you are considering trying it out, now would be the perfect time before it's gone forever.
